An in-house Employee Resource Management System, called ERM in short maintains and tracks the performance and reports of each employee. This works on a centralized database (SQL server) with a VB front-end allowing multiple users to access simultaneously. The system has advanced search facilities like progressive search, sorting on any field- alphanumeric basis. It allows the operators to generate customized reports based on the principal's requirements. The system is also web-enabled allowing applicants to enter details online. ERM can run as an application in ISMS- our onboard task based ship-management system. This has the added advantage of producing data which can be analysed such as LTIF, variance reports etc.

Training Effectiveness Evaluation

Feedback is taken from the trainees to see training delivery effectiveness. Performance appraisal meetings provide a measure of how effective training system is working in Eurasia.

The training courses conducted at the training centers are evaluated by the course participants and reviewed by the faculty. The superintendents and auditors who visit the ship on a regular basis vet the performance of the ship-staff and give feedback on performance levels based on lost time, injuries and deficiencies (for which the course was developed). They also carry with them training modules based on statistical information collected through audits and incident/ accident analysis reports. This supplements the training efforts ashore and identifies training needs for developing further training modules. The appraisal reports sent by the ship are designed to yield following information:

This helps us gauge the areas where the future training efforts need to be directed.

Continued Professional Development through mentoring

Senior personnel are designated as mentors for people identified quite early in their careers as having the potential to rise to the top. These candidates are then guided on a continuous basis to help them achieve their full potential. This supplements other on-the-job training that they receive. The organisation includes a support group, which acts as a coach and a referee to the delivery group in their execution of service to the customers. In the role of referee they ensure strict compliance and adherence to laid-down quality standards and industry best practices. At the same time they also act as coaches where it is found necessary to share their own experience and coach the delivery group in performing their duties. Such a balance between coaching and refereeing is further carried on between the delivery group and the shipboard management level, thus preparing them to become better professionals and confident of taking additional responsibilities.
